St. Paul Winter Carnival: Past Princess Association

Past Princess Association

Each year, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival crowns four Wind Princesses to represent the four corners of the King Boreas’ realm: North, East, West and South, and to serve as Legend characters and members of the reigning Royal Family. The Princesses, each accompanied by her Wind Prince, make hundreds of appearances throughout the year with the Royal Family.

For many years, a Princess' continued involvement after her reign ended was limited to and provided through other groups. As a result, the Past Princess Association (PPA) was established in 1994 through the efforts of a group of former Princesses in order to keep our love for community involvement & Carnival activities alive.

Requirement for membership in the PPA is based on the individual Princess successfully completing her year's reign with her Royal Family and contributing to the annual membership drive. Our primary purposes, as a Uniformed Group, are to:

The "crown over snowflake" is known as the official symbol of the Past Princess Association.

Our growth over the past 14 years continues to provide opportunities for membership participation and community involvement through traditional events and the creation of new activites.

Among our activities are Princess Mentorship, the annual Princess Farewell Brunch, Membership Meetings, providing funding for the reigning Princess Parade Costumes, Uniformed Group Council membership, volunteering at the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation's annual golf tournament, participating in parades, maintaining a PPA web site and sponsoring our annual Hallowed Eve Party.
